IMO plays a vital role in planning strategic measures for Chiba University to enhance the university's research capabilities. Our Institutional Research (IR) team gathers and analyzes information on research and educational activities both within and outside the institution, as well as utilizing research impact reports.
Research Capability Survey
We systematically collect and analyze information on the research outputs of our researchers, such as published papers and acquired research funding. By comparing trends in our research characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses with those of universities both domestically and internationally, this data supports the development of our research strategy and helps inform initiatives aimed at enhancing Chiba University's branding.
Evaluation Metrics for Mid-term Goals
To strengthen the research capabilities of Chiba University and promote international collaborative research, we examine and calculate key performance indicators based on a comprehensive and long-term perspective, focusing on metrics such as published papers and external funding acquisition. This analysis supports the establishment of evaluation indicators related to our mid-term goals and budgetary requests, as well as monitoring our progress, thereby contributing to the formulation of our research strategy.
Visualization of Research Strength through BI tools
Using a range of evidence―including published papers, funding resources, and researcher profiles―we leverage BI tools to create an integrated visualization of our research capabilities. This approach allows us to analyze research characteristics from various perspectives, such as discipline, faculty, or funding sources, which aids in the development of our future research strategy.
