Established in 2019, the STI for SDGs Award recognizes outstanding Japanese initiatives that leverage science, technology, and innovation (STI) to address societal challenges.
Dr. AMEMIYA conducts research and education at the intersection of nursing and engineering, grounded in clinical experience and insights from nursing practice.
Taking a patient-centered approach, she focuses on developing medical devices and next-generation care technologies, aiming to create a society where everyone can experience "the happiest moment ever," right up until the end of their lives.
In this project undertaken by Team "Regard" in collaboration with I・Medex Holdings Co., Ltd. and Izumi Chuo Hospital, Medical Corporation Chiba Izumikai, we successfully developed contact detection technology through circular innovation, promoting collaboration among industry, clinical settings, and academia, and contributing to a reduction in the use of physical restraints.
The award ceremony will be held at the Telecom Center Building in Koto Ward, Tokyo, from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, as part of Science Agora 2025, an event that connects science and society.

I am deeply honored to receive this prestigious award and extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported me. I have dedicated myself to developing care systems that uphold human dignity through a nursing-engineering approach, addressing challenges in clinical settings. Moving forward, I will continue advancing research and practice toward real-world societal implementation, striving to transform care not only in Japan but worldwide.
